If you’re ready to work toward better health, you’ve come to the right place.
Together, we can explore a range of vital topics including mindset shifts, plant-based nutrition, finding movement that works for you, stress management techniques, and the importance of rest and recovery. My coaching approach is rooted in trauma awareness, ensuring that our work together is both supportive and respectful of your unique experiences. Plus, I’m here to guide you through the nuances of perimenopause while keeping you accountable every step of the way.
Below, I share some of the ways I can best support you as a health and wellness coach.
Mindset
Mindset is one of the biggest roadblocks to our health goals. And as a coach, it’s one of the best places I can help you achieve your long-term health goals.
Attaining health goals that are sustainable and truly health-supporting requires looking further than just nutrition and movement.
We all know what we need to do to be healthy—eat your veggies, drink water, get protein, move, eat just enough, get good sleep, be emotionally resilient.
So why is it that for so many their vision of health seems elusive?
It’s often the things we think don’t matter that impact us the most.
Tools I like to use:
- visualizations
- journaling
- mindfulness & meditation
- questions to make you think
- working on self-sabotaging behaviors
- cultivating a growth mindset
- reframing
- developing awareness of self-talk
- fostering and prioritizing self-love
- acting to work in your best interest (and distinguishing what that is)
Things we can work on:
- your relationship with yourself
- your relationship with food
- your relationship with movement
- self-love, self-care
- being more present/aware
- stress management
Plant-based nutrition
I went vegetarian over 30 years ago, and have been vegan since 2006. On top of being vegan, I have several nutritional limitations (IBS, wheat allergy). My son had many allergies and food intolerances when he was younger, so I had to learn to meal plan around many limitations. (Yes, my son is vegan as is my husband.)
I worked as a sous chef in a gluten-free vegan restaurant, where one of my roles was developing some of the best selling recipes, which also included raw vegan cuisine. I’ve also developed meal plans and cooked during several yoga retreats.
Eating nutritiously and deliciously around limitations is possible! It’s not about what you can’t eat, but about discovering what you can.
I have years of experience eating plant-based in various configurations (low fat; minimally processed; high raw; high protein), so I can help you figure out the best way to eat for you in alignment with your goals.
I can help you if:
- you’re vegan and want to get better at the nutrition thing
- you’d like to incorporate more plants into your diet (and don’t necessarily plan to be vegan)
- you’d like to wildly increase the amount of vegetables on your plate
- you’d like help balancing your diet to align with your goals (athletic performance, body composition, longevity, etc.)
- you’d like help trying to figure out what to eat taking into account food limitations due to health reasons (allergies, autoimmune diseases, etc.)
- you’d like to be better at meal planning
- you need help overhauling your pantry
- want to overcome emotional eating
Please note that you don’t have to be vegan to work with me, but for ethical reasons I will not advise on animal-based products. I can give you general recommendations pertaining to protein.
Movement
Our bodies are made to move.
Our bodies function their best when they move regularly.
Moving your body should be a joyful experience—not a chore!
I can help you discover ways of moving your body that are joyful, while increasing strength, improving mobility, and improving your overall physical and mental health.
YES! Movement can be joyful!
My training in movement began with becoming a yoga teacher, and although I’ve broadened my movement repertoire over the years, a yogic approach is at the core of how I think about movement.
What does this mean?
To me, a yogic approach to movement is one centered around awareness, mindfulness, acceptance, and nonviolence to self.
I nurture becoming your body’s best friend and ally.
Some tools I like to use:
- joyful movement (let’s figure out what that means to you)
- kettlebells
- bodyweight exercises/calisthenics
- strength training (at the gym, at home, using weights or resistance bands)
- yoga
- mobility
- low intensity cardio (walking, hiking, dancing, biking, etc.)
- conditioning training
- training for function
I can help you if:
- you’d like to move more in a way that feels good for you
- you’d like a gym plan that takes into account your goals and preferences
- you want to train for longevity and long-term mobility (for your old lady body)
- want to eliminate pain and stiffness
Trauma-aware approach
As a trauma survivor myself, I cannot overstate the awareness necessary to work with those of us impacted by trauma.
Trauma affects our minds and bodies in many ways, and this impacts our health. It can also be the reason we have a hard time reaching our goals.
A trauma-aware approach doesn’t mean our sessions are therapy. It means I try to be empathic and let you the client lead on what you’re ready, willing, and able to do when it comes to your health.
Afterall, YOU are the most knowledgeable about YOU.
Stress management
Stress can feel overwhelming at times, but together we can break it down into manageable parts. We’ll explore personalized techniques such as mindfulness, breathwork and movement practices, time management skills, and positive reframing to help shift your perspective.
Through regular discussions, we can identify your stress triggers and develop strategies tailored specifically for you. Additionally, I’ll encourage open communication and self-reflection, allowing you to connect with what you’re really feeling rather than pushing it aside.
As we work together, you’ll gain confidence in your ability to navigate stressful situations more effectively and cultivate resilience that will serve you well both personally and professionally.
Tools I like to use:
- somatic practices
- breathwork
- emotional awareness
- mindset around emotions and stress
- movement
Rest & recovery
Rest and recovery are crucial components of wellbeing, particularly for women over 35, when hormonal fluctuations can create unexpected challenges in both physical and emotional health. As hormones shift, it can feel like everything is in a whirlwind—energy levels may dip, stress can build, and finding balance becomes essential. That’s where the right rest and recovery practices come into play.
I’m here to guide you through tailored strategies that fit seamlessly into your life, ensuring you don’t have to spend hours trying to unwind or heal.
Together, we’ll identify effective methods that not only rejuvenate your body but also soothe your mind—all while respecting your busy schedule. Embracing these restorative practices will help you regain control and thrive in this stage of life.
Perimenopause
If you’re over 35, there’s a high probability your body is taking steps towards your next hormonal transition. You may or may not have noticeable symptoms.
Welcome! You’re in perimenopause!
It’s pivotal to start caring for your health, so that you can be well prepared for some of the changes menopause brings.
Nutrition, intentional movement that includes some form of strength training, stress management, and adequate sleep are even more important than ever.
Don’t press the snooze on your health in this time!
We can figure out what interventions and solutions work for you when, so caring for your body and health are not another stressor in your busy life.
Accountability
One of the most important things a coach can help with is accountability. It’s that steady compass guiding you toward your goals, ensuring you stay focused and committed. When we sit down to set your objectives, I’ll be right there by your side, encouraging you to push through obstacles and celebrate victories, no matter how small.
Regular check-ins will keep us on track; it’s like having a dedicated partner in progress who is genuinely invested in your success. We’ll create a plan together that outlines your milestones and supports your journey, so you’re not just aimlessly drifting but rather navigating purposefully toward achievement.
With our combined efforts, we can reach heights you might not have thought possible! Together we can achieve more!
